Professor and Director of the School of Communication, Language, and Culture at UT San Antonio

The School of Communication, Language, and Culture at the University of Texas at San Antonio invites applications for a tenured Professor to serve as the inaugural School Director for an initial term of three years (renewable). We seek an innovative inaugural School Director who is a leader, a scholar, a teacher, and a mentor. The new director will lead efforts to bring together the Departments of Communication and Modern Languages and Literatures, forge and implement long-term goals, help recruit students and faculty members, develop novel and robust curricula, foster faculty development and leadership, and build up donor and alumni relations. The school offers a variety of BA and MA programs in addition to a new Ph.D. in Communication currently under review, and candidates from any specialization related to the disciplines in the new School are welcome to apply. The course load in the School is typically two courses per semester (2/2) at the undergraduate and graduate levels, with the director receiving two course releases per year (1/1). The different programs housed in the School offer faculty the option to teach in a variety of modalities, including residential and online-only courses.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with review beginning on July 17, 2026. Preliminary screening interviews will take place on Zoom in August with campus visits scheduled for early fall.
