Raka Shome is the   recipient of the 2026 Teresa Award for the Advancement of Feminist Scholarship from ICA and joins an influential list of feminist scholars in the field.

The committee discussions emphasized the extraordinary scope and influence of [Shome's] scholarship and noted that [her] pioneering theoretical work in transnational and postcolonial feminist communication studies, along with [her] sustained commitment to interrogating gender in relation to race, nationalism, colonialism, has fundamentally shaped the field. Beyond the undeniable impact of [her] publications, the committee especially noted how [Shome's] activism opened space for generations of scholars to think differently and more expansively about feminist theory in communication.
