  • 1.  Possible Meetup Helsinki the Week of March 30??

    Posted 03-18-2025 17:36
    Hello ICA friends.

I'm planning an upcoming visit to Helsinki and I will be meeting with some good people at the University of Helsinki. I will likely have at least 1-2 talks there on podcast studies-related topics including highlighting this recently co-authored article: Decolonial Methods in Podcast Production Studies: Reflections From Practice-Led Research.

At any rate, just wondering if anyone else will be around for a possible meetup the week of March 31?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Kim,

I'm glad that I spotted your post from the forum!

I have been studying Finnish YouTube podcasts from the perspective of journalistic authority for my PhD dissertation. I would be happy to meet and discuss about your research on podcasts during your stay. I will be joining the seminar at the Swedish School of Social Science on April 1st where you will be giving a presentation, so we will meet at least then! You can also reach out to me via email before that (viljami.vaarala@helsinki.fi).

You can find my recently published article "Podcasting the Truth: Challenging journalistic knowledge and building epistemic authority in independent YouTube podcasts" on Media and Communication here (apparently we published in the same special issue).
