Dear Colleagues,
I hope you are keeping well. I am just writing to share my new article, an academic-journalist collaborative investigation into extremist conspiracy influencing 'as a business', co-authored with Alexander Beunder, the latest article has just published this week in Fast Company:
'The British conspiracy guru building a sovereign micronation in Appalachia.'
A new age influencer known for outlandish theories and extreme views is selling his followers on a refuge from state power. The locals aren't buying it.

We published this related scholarly chapter last year which you may also find interesting:
Beunder, A & Briant, E, L. 'Understanding Conspiracy Theories as a Business The Case of Humanitad' in Briant, E, L & Bakir, V (2024) Routledge Handbook on the Influence Industry, London: Routledge

I hope it proves of interest in your research and teaching.
Sincerely,
Emma
