Dear IDD Members,
As we announced in the 2026 business meeting, the Instructional and Development Communication Division is soliciting nominations for two officer positions: (1) Secretary, and (2) SEC Representative. Both positions will begin in May 2027 (the first day of the 2027 Glasgow, Scotland conference) and end in May 2028.
SECRETARY:
View formal role description. Two year term (elected on the alternating year of the VC). Acts as recording secretary at business meetings of the DIV/IG. The Secretary prepares and distributes minutes of business meetings to members, acts as editor of the DIV/IG's newsletter, oversees the DIV/IG website (and ensures that the ICA page for the DIV/IG links to the external site, if there is one). The secretary keeps record of decisions and activities as the keeper of the "institutional memory" of the group. The secretary actively engages with DIV/IG members via official ICA channels (The Link, email, etc.); assist the Chair in administering business meetings; and participate with the Chair in evaluating the quality of DIV/IG programs.
STUDENT AND EARLY CAREER REPRESENTATIVE (SECR):
View formal role description. Two year term. SECRs: Represent the Student and Early Career scholars of their Division/Interest Group; are the first point of contact of Students and Early Career scholars; Participate in the organization of events dedicated to Students and Early Career Scholars during the conference; Inform their Division/Interest Group's members of the annual conference's Student and Early Career related events.
Fine Print:
- Only active members of both ICA and the Instructional and Development Communication Division (IDD) are eligible for nomination and election.
- Candidates may only run for ONE elected position across all ICA Divisions and Interest Groups.
- SELF-NOMINATIONS ARE WELCOME!
- If you nominate other members, please confirm with the potential nominees they are willing to serve in this role.
- ALL NOMINATIONS MUST INCLUDE the candidate's name, email address, and a candidate statement limited to one paragraph with no more than 2000 characters (approximately 300 words). Characters include letters, spaces and punctuation. Statements should be submitted in plain text with no special formatting (i.e. no bold, underline, bulleted items).They will be published exactly as entered in the ICA ballot system, so please ensure the statements have been proofread.
