I should also say, if you can't make the event but are interested in participating in the Caucus (which is still mostly in my head at this point), you can state as much on this thread or email me.

Subject: Coming to the Black Caucus Interest Meeting/Noiree Sat night? Please read this.
Hey y'all, thanks for your interest in my little party/Very Serious Interest-Gauging Event. Please read the following information if you plan on showing up Sat, May 28 at 9pm in Lab 10 of the Hyatt:
- Staying safe. As you know, the pandemic is still ongoing, and new COVID variants are circulating. Regardless of the conference or hotel rules on masks, I personally request that you please wear a mask as much as possible while at the event. The last thing I want is for it to become a superspreader event, and I will remind those of you returning to the US that a positive preflight test will result in an unplanned extra week in Paris, which might sound lit until you realize it's on your dime and you can't leave your hotel room (🤦🏿♂️). I know masks don't exactly scream "RAISE THE ROOF", but please help me help get everyone home on time.
- Showing interest. In addition to the drinking, dancing, and DJ ratchetness, this event is also designed to gauge interest for the formation of a cross-divisional ICA Black Caucus. If you're interested in possibly becoming a member of this (still speculative) organization, please make sure to add your name and email address to the paper signup sheet before you leave. I will use it to send a survey that will ask about what you would like such an organization to do and how you might like to participate. If you can't make the event but are interested in the Caucus, please email me at freelon@email.unc.edu .
- Song requests! Yeah, I'm taking 'em--just drop 'em in replies ↓. I will mostly play songs that are danceable and that many people will know, and I'll only be spinning radio edits as we will have at least a few minors present. There's no guarantee I'll play your suggestion(s), but I might, so request away.
- If you have any questions about the event, LMK and I'll answer below.
