Folks --
We invite participation in an ICA Blue Sky sessions on scholarly journal editing in media and communication studies.
We will, to accommodate those meeting in regional sessions around the world -- and in light of political conditions in the USA, host two sessions-one in person, the other online-only. Both sessions can accommodate up to 35 participants. Recent events have made this a particularly important time to have these conversations.
If you are interested in joining either session, please let us know:
https://airtable.com/appnGvz4oZPYaa30o/pagwzz8zu9EoXJAUj/formThe in-person Denver session is:
* Sunday, June 15, 1:30pm - 2:45pm MDT
* Mt. Harvard (Grand 3)
The online-only sessin is:
* Monday, June 16, 7am to 8:15am MDT (15:00 to 16:15 UTC)
Both sessions will be a moderated conversation open to anyone interested in thinking about scholarly publishing in media and communication studeis through the lens of journal editing as a craft.
Journal editors curate scholarly conversations, transforming and consolidating the field as they evaluate, select, help develop, and contextualize articles. This session refracts challenges and opportunities through the lens of the craft of editing itself. The goal is to identify best practices for editing, and for learning editing, in a changing technological, economic, social, and political environment. Participants will include deeply experienced editors, individuals new to editing, and those who may wish to become involved in editorial work.
