    Dear Community,
    We are pleased to announce a call for chapter proposals for an edited book titled, AI and the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Africa: Perspectives on Policy, Pedagogy, and Practice. 

    We invite chapter proposals examining the opportunities, challenges, ethical implications, and policy considerations surrounding Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Africa, with a focus on but not limited to higher education. As AI reshapes education, research, governance, and society, the book seeks contributions that critically explore how African institutions can harness AI responsibly while addressing issues such as academic integrity, ethics, digital inequality, governance, innovation, and sustainable development.

    We welcome conceptual, empirical, and case study contributions that examine the intersection of AI, education, and the Fourth Industrial Revolution across African contexts. Submissions from diverse disciplinary and methodological perspectives are encouraged, particularly those offering practical insights into responsible AI adoption, policy development, curriculum innovation, and the future of higher education on the continent.

    Topics include, but are not limited to:

    • Philosophical approaches to education and Fourth Industrial Revolution Technologies
    • International and inter-regional collaboration using AI
    • Artificial Intelligence and Educational Decolonization
    • Developing AI Tools relevant for African Realities
    • Disciplinary and interdisciplinary collaboration
    • Lessons Learned: The promises and perils of AI
    • Strategies for Implementing AI in African Educational Institutions
    • The use of AI in primary and secondary education
    • The effects of artificial intelligence and AI Agents on the education workforce
    • Digital data dependency/independence
    • Artificial Intelligence and Civil Society
    • Artificial Intelligence and Socio-Cultural Intelligence
    • Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Work
    To be considered, please submit a 250-word maximum abstract with your proposed chapter title, methodology, theoretical framework, 3-4 key words, and a sample of references that will inform your chapter.

    Key Dates
    • Proposal submissions must be sent to adelina.mbinjama@nwu.ac.za no later than August 20, 2026
    • Notice of acceptance October 9, 2026.
    • Draft submissions due January 21, 2027
    • Revised Manuscripts due March 15, 2027
