Dear Colleagues,
As a reminder, educators and practitioners are invited to submit chapter proposals for a third edition of the Routledge book, Social Media and Crisis Communication. Chapters should address how social media are influencing the practice of crisis communication, either through a theoretical, empirical, review, or case study perspective.
Chapters are encouraged to focus on one of the following areas regarding social media and crisis communication: current/emerging issues, overviews of research streams, emerging theories and frameworks, areas for special consideration (including ethical and legal implications, new technology and AI, and new theoretical directions and frameworks), future directions, or applications in specific areas of crisis communication practice. Interdisciplinary approaches and mixed methods, as well as global media perspectives and cases, are welcomed. Authors may also propose a topic or area not listed above.
To propose a chapter, please send a 250-word abstract and a one-page outline (12 pt type, NYT Roman font, single spaced, flush left) for the proposed chapter (as a Word attachment) to Lucinda Austin, co-editor, at lucinda.austin@unc.edu by no later than Monday, March 17, 2025. Authors will be notified of proposal acceptances in early to mid April 2025. For accepted chapter proposals, full chapter submissions will be due Friday, Aug. 15. Questions can be directed to lucinda.austin@unc.edu or bfliu@umd.edu.
Thank you, and we look forward to hearing from you!
Lucinda Austin, Ph.D., Brooke Fisher Liu, Ph.D.
