Dear ICA colleagues:
I am pleased to announce the publication of Anthropological Realism, a new global ethic authored by myself and Prof. Clifford G. Christians of the University of Illinois.
I attach the publisher's blurb, and the TOC and preface.
Anthropological Realism is a moral globalism intended as a theoretical foundation for ethics, a humanism based on an ethic of the whole human-natural, historical, linguistic, and cultural. We use "anthropological" because it refers to what concerns humans and humanity. Our book is a hybrid theory that avoids traditional ethical dualisms of realism versus anti-realism, social construction versus absolutism, reason versus emotion-dualisms that have plagued Western ethical thought. Besides the presentation of our theory, the book provides (a) a succinct history of ethics and ethical theory; (b) an analysis of the contribution of philosophers of language and continental thought; (c) an analysis of pragmatism and naturalism concerning their views of morality; and (d) for scholars and students, 33 pages of references.
If you would like a copy to review, or to have a 'peak' at the book or a specific chapter to see if you are interested in the publication, just send me an email.
Information on purchasing the book from the publisher is in the attached book flyer1 with a discount. You can directly link to the book at: https://www.cambridgescholars.com/product/978-1-5275-8618-5
