The Department of Communication at the University of California, Santa Barbara is accepting applications for our Ph.D. and M.A./Ph.D. programs for fall 2024 admission.
Our department embraces social scientific approaches to inquiry and engagement in core areas of Interpersonal & Intergroup, Organizational & Group, and Media & Digital Communication, with cross-cutting emphases in political, health, persuasion, neuroscience, computational, global, identity, well-being, and social justice. The department prides itself on the award-winning research conducted by faculty and graduate students, personalized degree programs, excellent job placement, and training in communication instruction, as well as its commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
We invite prospective applicants to attend our online graduate open house on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 1-2 pm (Pacific Time). A panel of faculty and grad students will provide an overview of our program and answer questions about it.

We are pleased to announce that the Department of Communication at UCSB has eliminated the GRE requirement for Ph.D. and M.A. admissions, in an attempt to focus on more inclusive, equitable and effective ways to make admissions decisions.
