    Hi folks,

The subway from the airport in Paris is full of pickpockets.
Do not use the trains or metro to your hotel, especially if you are traveling alone or you have luggage. Pickpockets will easily make you out and steal from you. Uber or registered airport taxis are you best and safest bet.
    Stay safe.

    Dear all,

There are indeed pickpockets in Paris' subway, but there is no need to panic. If you keep your luggage closed and close to you, with your backpack/handbag under your eyes at all times, it's no more dangerous that in any other big city! Just be careful and you'll be fine!

    Take care and enjoy Paris!

    Hi,

I'm so sorry someone from South Africa seems to have had a bad experience already...  I agree with Julie. In Paris, expensive phones and wallets should not be put in open pockets (trousers, jackets). Computer should not be let unattended in luggage spaces in tubes and RER trains. I always touch my precious luggages and not just let them be on the floor near me when I travel, often tired from the journey and excited... And I do the same in Paris where I live.

Some may also argue that groups of foreigners can be loud and that certainly attracts the attention of pick-pockets. Pickpockets in every capital cities use very effective attention-seeking strategies. Someone falls, asks for help... Their imagination is impressive.

I hope you all enjoy your stay in Paris. Even though it may not be the Emily in Paris carte postale you had in mind, it could be so MUCH BETTER ! Wish you a great conference, à + x Lucile

Thank you for the suggestion! Does anyone know roughly how much it cost/how long the cab ride is from the airport to the hotel?

@Mi Jahng Cabs have a fixed price from CDG airport. From there to the conference hotel, it's 53€.
