Hello,
My name is Dr. Doris Acheme and I am conducting research to explore significant events or turning points that shape the understanding and experience of race for Nigerian immigrants in the United States.
I am looking for Nigerian immigrants who a) are 18 years or older, b) grew up in Nigeria until 18 years of age, c) currently reside in the United States, d) have lived in the United States between five to 10 years, e) have had at least two significant events that shaped their understanding of race and identity as a Black man/woman, and f) self-identify as a Black man/woman.
If you agree to participate, I will interview you and ask questions about significant that shaped your experience of race in the United States. The interview will take about 60-90 minutes to complete. The interview will be conducted via zoom, and I would audio-record it. After completing the interview, you will receive $40 via a visa clincard as compensation for your time.
If you meet the criteria and are interested in participating in this study, please contact me at
doris.acheme@uga.edu. If you know someone who meets the criteria and might be interested, please forward them this message.
Thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Dr. Acheme
