Hello Members,
I hope this message finds you well. My name is Sumeyya Akdilek, a Master's student at Texas Tech University, and I am reaching out to invite you to participate in a pivotal study titled "Honeymoon in the Cycle of Violence: An Exploration into the Mechanisms of Forgiveness in Abusive Romantic Relationships."
This research aims to delve into the nuanced concept of forgiveness within the context of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV), particularly focusing on the significant yet understudied "honeymoon phase" of the cycle of violence. Through this study, I seek to understand the complex interplay of personal, relational, and societal factors that influence the experience and response to IPV, contributing to a deeper understanding of IPV dynamics, particularly the critical aspect of forgiveness.
Your insights and experiences are invaluable to this study. By participating, you will contribute to a body of knowledge that seeks not only to understand the mechanisms of forgiveness in the context of IPV but also to inform strategies for intervention and support for victims in these contexts. This research holds the potential to significantly impact the way IPV and forgiveness are understood and addressed in academic, clinical, and public policy spheres.
The survey is confidential and designed to collect information regarding demographic background, experiences with conflict or tension in relationships, harmful actions experienced or exhibited, and perspectives on empathy, apology sincerity, and forgiveness related to IPV scenarios. Your participation will be anonymous, and all responses will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and respect.
All college students including both undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to contribute to this study. To participate in the survey, please follow this link to the survey. The survey will take approximately 45 to complete. Should you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact me at sakdilek@ttu.edu.
Additionally, I want to point out that this is a voluntary participation. You can stop to complete the survey if you do not feel comfortable to answer questions at any time. That is, in that case, you do not have to continue.
Your participation is crucial to the success of this research, and I am incredibly grateful for your time and willingness to contribute. Together, we can further the understanding of forgiveness in abusive romantic relationships and make strides toward more effective interventions and support mechanisms for those affected by IPV.
Thank you for considering this invitation. I look forward to your valuable contribution to this important study.
Warm regards,
Sumeyya Akdilek
