    Dear ICA members,

We, François Cooren (U de Montréal), Joëlle Cruz (U of Colorado, Boulder), and John McClellan (Aalborg U.), are organizing an ICA 2025 preconference titled, "Disrupting and Consolidating CCO Research: Moving Together in Different Directions." This event is co-sponsored by the Organizational Communication division and the Language and Social Interaction division of ICA.

It will take place at the Hyatt Regency, in Denver, Colorado, on Thursday, June 12, 2025.

Echoing the 2025 ICA Conference theme, we invite participants to present studies and reflections that will both disrupt and consolidate CCO (Communication as Constitutive of Organization) research. All the sensitivities of the CCO approach are welcome in this event: empirical, theoretical, critical, feminist, decolonial, queer, etc., and we hope that this diversity will be reflected in the selected presentations and subsequent conversations.

With this preconference, we aim to bring this diversity of perspectives into productive dialogue to see how we can "move together in different directions," as mentioned in the subtitle of our event. Our ultimate objective is to show how CCO perspectives can help us not only better understand how organizations function or dysfunction, but also how to improve the conditions in which people work, organize themselves, and deal with the organizations that employ them.

We are hoping to welcome participants from all over the world. Over the past 30 years, the CCO perspective has already been widely developed in Canada, the United States, Europe, Latin America, and Australasia, but we are hoping that this one-day event will also attract scholars from Africa and Asia. Thanks to recent contributions, especially in the latest Routledge Handbook of CCO, published in 2022, the CCO perspective has been broadened theoretically, epistemologically, and empirically through the inclusion of queer, postcolonial, feminist, and critical approaches, which had been historically underrepresented in this kind of study.

We're looking forward to seeing you then!

Venue: Hyatt Regency, 650 15th St., Denver, Colorado, 80202.

    Date: Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 8:00 to 5:00pm.
