Hello ICA colleagues,
My new book,
The Blackish Press: Content, Ownership, and Audience of Digital Black News Outlets, is now available. The
book investigates the digital Black press and analyzes how journalists' and readers' conceptualizations of its content, ownership, and audience have changed in the
new media age. It uses interviews with journalists, focus groups with readers, and analysis of web metrics to discuss how the digital Black press is both similar to and different from the historical Black press. You can read more about the
book in this article.
The Blackish Press is available via most
booksellers, but if you purchase it on the
Oxford University Press website you can enter the code AUFLY30 for 30 percent off.
I would love if you could support me by 1. Buying a copy 2. Adding it to your syllabi and/or 3. Asking your university or local library to purchase a copy.
I'm also happy to do in-person or Zoom talks (live or recorded) for classes or departments this upcoming academic year. Please message me at
miya.fayne@wisc.edu to coordinate this if you're interested.
Thanks in advance for any way you are able to support!
