Dear All,
I started a
lab podcast
in January and am trying to figure out how to grow its value and audience. I think students could benefit from the exposure to researchers and industry professionals working with my research topics of interest (avatars, VR, games). If you have a moment/inclination to listen to an episode or two, I would hugely appreciate any critical/constructive feedback. Here are our main topics and episodes:
Proteus Effect
Creativity (feat. Dr. Stephanie Buisine)
Bias & Body Ownership (feat. Dr. Domna Banakou)
Overview and Theory with a masterful Masters student (feat. Anna Praetorius)
Avatars in Industry
Cross-Platform Avatars From Ready Player Me (feat. Timmu Tõke)
Avatars and VR for the Workplace (feat recent MSU grad, Ryan Feldman)
A Historical Perspective: From Bell Labs to Analog Avatars (feat. Dr. Ramesh Lakshmi-Ratan)
Game studies
Toxicity (feat. Dr. Rachel Kowert)
Mental Health (feat. Dr. Raffael Boccamazzo)
Game Studies: The Past, Present, and Future (feat. Dr. Dmitri Williams & Dr. Mia Consalvo)
If you are so inclined, here are some prompts for feedback:
1) Are these topics covered in a sufficiently interesting way? What could make them more compelling?
2) Are the episodes informative enough to disseminate to students taking classes on these topics?
3) Is the style of production (music, editing, background, etc.) okay? What could make it better?
4) Do you think the audio alone is sufficient or is there significant value added in the videos?
5) Is there anything you might want to do to help with the podcast effort? ...would you like to share your expertise as a guest?
Any feedback at all on the podcast will be greatly appreciated. Feel free to ignore these prompts (or this email altogether).
Wishing you the best in all of your edutainment choices. :)
