  • 1.  Resources for media systems teachers

    Posted 01-14-2021 21:19
Hi! I'd like to share this list of links that may help teachers of courses on comparative media systems and international journalism: Journalism around the world.

Origins: I got tired of my students in Asia using examples from faraway countries such as the US and the UK when writing their term papers and doing their group presentations. I couldn't blame them, given the information imbalances that we know only too well. There are actually great global resources online, but my students were not finding them. I've been compiling this list over the years and adding them to my syllabi to nudge them towards these diverse sources.

Purpose: This is not meant as a main reading list for any course. It's a supplementary list, mainly for students to explore when researching their term papers and presentations. It's also useful as a source of case studies to include in lectures.

How you can help: Please do suggest websites to add to the list, especially in the regional and thematic sections. You can add comments or suggestions into the Google Doc.

    Cheers,
    Cherian

    Dear Cherian George,

Thanks for this awesome list! Here are some Brazilian websites against fake news:

    https://noticias.uol.com.br/eleicoes/2020/09/28/aplicativo-permite-denunciar-irregularidades-em-campanhas.htm

    https://g1.globo.com/fato-ou-fake/

    http://www.eleicoes-sem-fake.dcc.ufmg.br/

They are in Portuguese. As you probably know, fake news is a very grave problem in my country, and has been seriously affecting politics and public health.

Have a great rest of the week!
